Just like an item of clothing, make sure that you regularly launder your bags, and be sure to store them in a safe and sanitary location within your home. Remember, reusable bags should not be kept underneath your car seats or in the boot, as this provides a prime environment for bacteria to grow.
Use different bags for different foods
Just as you would separate your dry goods, ready-to-eat foods, raw meats and poultry in the kitchen, you should use different bags for different items too. Always use separate bags when it comes to transporting raw meat, and make sure that you take steps to avoid the leakage of containers. If possible, ask a store assistant to wrap risky items in plastic bags before you place them inside of your reusable bag.
